The domain freename.com was initially created on 2004-01-19. Since then, the domain has been renewed always again.
Freenom, formerly Freedom Registry, the company behind the commercialization of .tk, bought freename.com for 3,700 EUR on 2013-02-20 through sedo.com:

My guess is that Freename bought the domain from Freenom. However, I do not know that for sure.
BTW the domain is still hosted on Freenom's name servers.
