Demand for particularly attractive .me domains has fallen

Postby Research » Thu 18. Jul 2024, 16:33

Domain.me, registry of Montenegro's .me country code extension, has provided an exclusive insight into premium domain sales in 2023. And it wasn't a particularly good year; a significantly weaker primary market in the post-COVID era combined with slower economic and venture capital investment on a global scale clearly impacted the premium market, according to Domain.me. A total of 51 premium domains were sold under .me, including best.me, made.me and belong.me. The average price per premium domain in the period from January 1 to December 31, 2023 was EUR 6,215.69, with the highest price at EUR 70,000; a total of EUR 317,500 (excluding the domain registrar's margin, which is usually 15 to 25 percent) was sold. In 2022, the figure was significantly higher with 77 premium domains sold for a total of EUR 591,500. However, Domain.me points out that prices for two-character domains and numeric domains have developed solidly; they account for more than 15 percent of premium registrations in 2023. The greatest demand for premium domains under .me came from the USA, where 34 of the 51 domains were registered. No figures are available for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
