Thu 18. Jul 2024, 16:38

The .eu administrator EURid has published its annual report for 2023. According to the report, .eu, which now has 53 employees, closed the past year with an officially confirmed 3,684,820 domains, a decrease of 17,444 domains or the equivalent of 0.47 per cent compared to the previous year. This continues a slight downward trend, as .eu also lost 11,540 domains in 2021 compared to 2022. Most .eu domains, namely 985,934, are registered in Germany, followed by the Netherlands (456,298) and France (306,477). The largest growth was reported by Cyprus (47.6 per cent), Croatia (11.7 per cent) and Portugal (8.6 per cent). One of EURid's most important innovations in 2023 is "WebClass", an automated solution that automatically categorises websites in every European language into various predefined usage categories. It was found that the largest share of all .eu domains, 14.8 per cent, is used for web shops. The entire seven-page report, including the financial report, can now be downloaded free of charge:
