The registry of .nowruz has not remedied several breaches

Thu 15. Aug 2024, 15:09

The Internet registry ICANN has announced its intention to terminate the registry contracts with the Istanbul-based Asia Green IT System Bilgisayar San. ve Tic. Ltd. Sti. to be cancelled. Asia Green had already been warned by ICANN in July 2024 for various breaches of contract; Asia Green is said to have failed to fulfil its contractual obligation for downtime of the Registration Data Directory Service and failed to submit monthly reports and pay fees on time. At the same time, the .nowruz top-level domain managed by Asia Green, under which six domains are currently registered, was included in the Emergency Back-End Registry Operator (EBERO) programme; the .uk registry Nominet was appointed as the EBERO manager. The extensions .pars, .shia, .tci and an internationalised top-level domain, which are also managed by Asia Green, are not reporting any registrations, which is why ICANN had refrained from transferring them to the EBERO programme as well. The breaches of contract do not appear to have been remedied within the deadline set by ICANN of 31 July 2024; in any case, ICANN has changed the status to ‘Escalated to Termination Process - Mediation Phase’. As the current registry agreement for .nowruz ends in September 2024 anyway, the top-level domain is likely to disappear from the Domain Name System shortly.
